Titan Metals & Minerals Ltd (TMML) – Executive Overview

Titan Metals & Minerals Ltd (TMML) is the mining arm of the Titan Group, focused on the  exploration and processing of Titanium Mineral that support the aerospace, defence, and advanced manufacturing sectors.

The company proposes to establish an integrated Beach Sand Mineral Processing and Titanium Value Addition Complex to produce strategic mineral products for both domestic consumption and international markets. The project aligns with the Government of India’s vision of strengthening the domestic critical minerals value chain, promoting import substitution, and enhancing exports of value-added mineral products.

Strategic Focus

The proposed project will focus on the extraction and processing of valuable heavy minerals contained in beach sand deposits, including:

  • Ilmenite
  • Rutile
  • Garnet
  • Zircon
  • Monazite (subject to applicable statutory regulations and approvals)
  • Kyanite and other associated heavy minerals, where commercially viable

These minerals serve as essential raw materials for industries including aerospace, defence, pigments, chemicals, ceramics, abrasives, welding consumables, advanced alloys, renewable energy, and high-performance engineering materials.

Among these, Ilmenite and Rutile represent strategically important titanium-bearing minerals used in the production of titanium sponge, titanium dioxide pigments, titanium metal alloys, and advanced aerospace-grade materials.

Industry Experience

Titan Metals & Minerals has longstanding experience in the international titanium minerals trade and has supplied ilmenite to overseas pigment manufacturing facilities while facilitating the import of titanium dioxide products for industrial applications. Building upon this experience, the company proposes to expand into integrated mineral processing and downstream value-added manufacturing.

Subject to definitive commercial agreements, TMML intends to collaborate with internationally recognised mining engineering and mineral processing technology providers to develop advanced mining, beneficiation, and mineral separation facilities.

Integrated Project Development

TMML proposes to establish the project in the coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh or Tamil Nadu, subject to mineral resource availability, statutory approvals, environmental clearances, and mining lease allocations.

The project will be implemented in three phases:

Phase I – Mining Operations

Development of environmentally responsible beach sand mineral mining operations using modern mining technologies and sustainable resource management practices.

Phase II – Mineral Separation and Beneficiation

Establishment of mineral separation and beneficiation plants to produce high-purity concentrates of ilmenite, rutile, garnet, zircon, and other commercially valuable heavy minerals through advanced processing technologies.

Phase III – Titanium Value Addition

Development of downstream manufacturing facilities for high-value titanium products, including titanium sponge and titanium dioxide pigment, thereby creating an integrated value chain from mineral extraction to advanced material production.

Titanium Manufacturing

The company proposes to establish manufacturing facilities with an initial production capacity of:

  • 10,000 tonnes per annum of Titanium Sponge
  • 50,000 tonnes per annum of Titanium Dioxide Pigment

The production capacity may be expanded in subsequent phases based on mineral reserve availability, market demand, and commercial viability.

Titanium sponge is a critical strategic material extensively used in aerospace, defence, marine, medical, and advanced engineering applications, while titanium dioxide is widely utilised in pigments, coatings, plastics, paper, cosmetics, and specialty chemicals.

Market Opportunity

During the initial phase, TMML intends to market mineral concentrates—including ilmenite, rutile, garnet, zircon, kyanite, and other commercially recoverable minerals—to domestic and international customers, subject to applicable export regulations.

As downstream titanium processing capacity is established, a greater proportion of ilmenite production will be utilised internally for the manufacture of titanium sponge and titanium dioxide, enabling significantly higher value addition within India.

Through the development of an integrated mining, processing, and advanced materials ecosystem, Titan Metals & Minerals Ltd aims to become a reliable supplier of strategic titanium raw materials and value-added products for global pigment manufacturers, aerospace companies, defence industries, and advanced engineering sectors, while supporting India’s objective of strengthening its critical minerals and strategic materials capabilities.
