Titan Aerospace – Executive Overview
Titan Aviation & Aerospace India Ltd (TAAIL), incorporated in 2011, is the flagship aerospace company of the Titan Group. The company was established with the objective of promoting India’s aviation and aerospace sectors through indigenous manufacturing, technology development, maintenance, engineering services, and advanced skill development.
TAAIL’s long-term vision is to establish an integrated Aerospace & Defence Manufacturing Hub that supports the Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives by reducing dependence on imports, promoting technology transfer, modernising existing aerospace and defence platforms, and developing world-class manufacturing capabilities.
The proposed project encompasses the complete aerospace value chain, including research and development, engineering, design, testing, certification, manufacturing, assembly, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), and lifecycle support for both civil and defence aviation platforms.
Strategic Objectives
The project aims to establish advanced capabilities in the design, development, manufacture, assembly, and lifecycle support of:
- Fixed-wing aircraft
- Helicopters
- Aero engines and propulsion systems
- Aerospace components and sub-assemblies
- Unmanned aerial systems (UAS)
- Advanced aerospace structures and composite materials
In parallel, through other specialised Titan Group entities, the integrated industrial ecosystem will support the manufacture of defence platforms and strategic systems, including armoured vehicles, ballistic protection systems, military drones, and other homeland security products.
Subject to the execution of definitive agreements and applicable regulatory approvals, TAAIL intends to collaborate with leading international aerospace companies through Technology Transfer (ToT), joint development programmes, engineering partnerships, and industrial cooperation to establish advanced manufacturing capabilities in India for both domestic and international markets.
Phased Development Plan
Phase I – Aviation Services, Simulation and Skill Development
The first phase will focus on establishing foundational aviation infrastructure comprising:
- Air charter services
- Advanced civil and defence flight simulation centres
- Residential flying training academy
- Aerospace University and specialised aviation education
- Skill development and technical training centres
These facilities will create a highly skilled workforce to support India’s growing aviation, aerospace, defence, and space industries.
Phase II – Aerospace Engineering and Manufacturing
The second phase will establish advanced engineering and manufacturing infrastructure, including:
- Aerospace Research & Development laboratories
- Design and Engineering Bureau
- Aircraft engine manufacturing facilities
- Precision aerospace component manufacturing
- Advanced fabrication centres equipped with Electron Beam Welding (EBW) and Laser Beam Welding (LBW) technologies
- Aerospace materials, testing, validation, and certification facilities
These capabilities will support the manufacture of high-precision aerospace systems that meet international quality and airworthiness standards.
Phase III – Integrated Manufacturing and MRO Hub
The final phase will establish a fully integrated aerospace industrial complex comprising:
- Aircraft and helicopter assembly lines
- Production facilities for aerospace systems and components
- Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities for fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters
- Heavy maintenance capabilities, including C-Check and D-Check maintenance
- Flight testing infrastructure
- Dedicated runway and associated aviation infrastructure
- Captive 20 MW power generation facility and supporting industrial utilities
The integrated campus is intended to provide complete lifecycle support from manufacturing through in-service maintenance and fleet sustainment.
Aerospace Industrial Campus
TAAIL proposes to develop an integrated aerospace industrial campus over approximately 5,000 acres within a Defence Industrial Corridor promoted by the Government of India. The master plan envisions dedicated operational zones for classified, restricted, and commercial activities, ensuring appropriate segregation of operations in accordance with applicable regulatory and security requirements.
The development is conceived as a combination of strategic industrial infrastructure and advanced aerospace manufacturing, creating a comprehensive ecosystem that supports research, production, testing, maintenance, logistics, and workforce development.
Airport-Based MRO Development
To accelerate operational readiness, TAAIL also proposes to establish Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities through the lease or concession of an underutilised airport under the Airports Authority of India (AAI), or through an appropriate public-private partnership or joint venture model, subject to government policy and statutory approvals.
The proposed airport-based MRO facility will support commercial and government aircraft by providing comprehensive maintenance, engineering, overhaul, and technical support services, strengthening India’s position as a regional aviation maintenance hub.
Vision
Through strategic investments, advanced technologies, international collaborations, and indigenous capability development, Titan Aviation & Aerospace India Ltd aims to become one of India’s leading aerospace companies, delivering world-class aviation products, engineering solutions, and MRO services while contributing to the growth of India’s aerospace manufacturing ecosystem and expanding exports to global markets in compliance with applicable regulations.
